Position description

Conduct qualitative and quantitative chemical analyses or chemical experiments in laboratories for quality or process control or to develop new products or knowledge.

Quality Control

 

Quality Control of product manufactured by Production.

Assistance with Quality Control and trouble-shooting in the Production Department.

Render assistance to the Marketing Services Department.

Evaluation of alternate / new raw materials, competitor’s products and reformulate existing products with improved cost / performance characteristics.

Involvement in the setting and control of Budgetary requirements.

Research and Development for new and existing products.

Including the driving and maintenance of the Laboratory aspects of the PCP process.

Implementation and Control of Housekeeping and Safety Standards in accordance with current legislation and company requirements, in the Laboratory.

Liaison with the Production Department on matters concerning Production.

Maintenance of the database for the Production Bill of Materials and Laboratory programmes.

Training and Development of laboratory staff.

Skills Development, Training needs MbO’s and appraisals.

Ensure all mixtures and solutions are in line with Corporate standards

Ensure that test results and processes are documented correctly

Ensure close information exchange with other Laboratory staff, Factory and Technical.

 

Monitor product quality to ensure compliance with standards and specifications.

Provide and maintain a safe work environment

Maintain, clean, or sterilize laboratory instruments or equipment.

 

 

General                       

Undertakes such additional duties which may from time to time be assigned to the Employee in the discharge of his / her duties.

To ensure that a correct and proper image of the Company is maintained at all times.

Education and experience

 

National Diploma in Analytical Chemistry

B-SC degree (Operations/Quality/Chemistry)

8-10 years’ experience in a laboratory

3-5 years supervisory experience

Experience in paints, resins or concrete admix would be beneficial

Advanced MS Office Skills

Must be familiar with laboratory instrumentation,

Excellent Communication Skills
