Duties / Responsibilities:
• Provide assurance to the Group Technical and EHS Manager on environmental, health and safety compliance, company operational standards and good environmental practice.
• Assess key environmental, health & safety issues facing the company’s businesses.
• Assess the status of the company’s businesses against regulatory, company operational standards and good practice.
• Report on findings identified.
• Monitor and report on close-out of audit findings.
• Conduct operational environmental, health & safety audits at sites on a 2 year rolling basis.
• Provide reports containing issues logs highlighting findings to the respective businesses and Group Technical and EHS Manager:
o Describing legal non-compliances.
o Assessing operational environmental, health & safety risks.
o Identifying findings relating to site level environmental, health & safety policies, operational standards and good practice.
• Monitor close-out of audit findings.
• Provide key recommendations to the business and Group Technical and EHS Manager.
• Traveling will be required.

Qualifications / Experience:
• Matric.
• Bachelor’s degree or B-tech degree in Chemical Engineering.
• Recognised qualifications in health and safety management.
• 5 years or more applicable environmental, health & safety management experience.
• Environmental, health & safety management system and legal compliance auditing experience.
• Thorough knowledge of process safety management.
• Thorough knowledge of environmental, health & safety legislation in South Africa.
• A good understanding of the environmental, health & safety issues associated with manufacturing, preferably in a chemicals and/or explosives manufacturing environment.
• International experience would be an advantage.
• Bachelor’s degree or B-tech degree in Chemical Engineering.
• Recognised qualifications in health and safety management.
