Business Development Manager – West Africa
For Ghana, West Africa, the region Sub Saharan Africa (SSA) is looking for a Business Development Africa for the greater West African region
Responsibilities
Business Development lead in West Africa a across all business lines
Potentially serve as SSA BD lead for a specific industry (i.e Industry champion)
Conduct market-, branch-, and industry intelligence to identify new business opportunities
Analysis of market research with regard to new business opportunities
Develop and execute country development strategies for strategic West African countries and align with the business lines on objectives and implementation thereof
Assist with market introduction of new products
Initiate, facilitate, drive and support cross business line activities and projects in conjunction iwht the business lines
Identify and drive local business projects in West Africa for business lines
Access, analyze and development market entry of products, viz channel and/or distributor in conjunction and alignment with the business lines
Build up and keep the contacts to the local German associations, eg. GIZ
Research, build and maintain government and association contacts
Monitor and analyze competition and peer situation in West Africa
Propose and investigate new areas of activities and new areas of implementation of company technologies in the region
Ensure efficient communication with business line peers and regional head office
Satisfy/delight top management needs for information
Participate in the regular Business Update Meetings
Requirements
Bachelor degree or above, with major in chemical engineering, business administration, oil and gas industry experience, agricultural sciences or related fields
Ideally 4 – 6 years’ experience working in business development, business analysis, sales/marketing or related functions
Profound knowledge on and experience of the agricultural, chemical and specialty chemicals industry in West Africa
Proficient in business English and local West African languages
Ability to converse in French a definite advantage
Self-motivated, proactive and communicative
Advantageous is applicant has previously worked in a multi country environment
Very good understanding of the organization and business, able to develop strategy and manage implementation
Able to work hands on and set up and drive field work
Hands-on experience in one or more functions, eg. Business analysis, engineering, marketing/sales
Interdisciplinary skills, e.g. technical, business, controlling
Intercultural and team building skills
Able to coordinate, develop and implement multifunctional and cross business line activities as well as generate new ideas
Able to run several projects in conjunction and able to drive projects whilst in the field
Strong communication and relationship building skills and must have ability to work remotely from head office with a higher level of communication required
Good understanding of macro-economic connections and trends, as well as of chemical industry and manufacturing trends
Strong project and team management skills, able to lead and work within a cross-functional team
Acceptance to intensively travel throughout the East Africa region (at minimum two weeks per month)
