General Manager – Bakery Ingredients Company in Nigeria (part of international mother company)
Purpose of job:
• Start-up of company in Lagos Nigeria in the special bakery ingredients industry, first on import basis and within one year also start up local production.
• Reporting to the area manager Africa
Key tasks and responsibilities:
1. Strategic management – Ensuring a clear business strategy is thought through, signed off and implemented, relevant to the market.
2. Sales & Marketing Management – be responsible for the sales and marketing of the company in the territory
3. Financial Management – joint responsibility of the P & L of the company in conjunction with the financial manager, including IT systems.
4. Operational Management – responsible for the imports, storage, distribution of products and the set-up of a production unit, appoint operations /R&D manager and team to run operations.
5. HR management – responsible for HR management of team
6. TSS team management – manage the Technical Sales Support team – focused on helping clients bake better products using the company’s product range.
7. Reporting to head office – Ensuring regular reporting as per requirement to the area manager Africa
8. GM will receive support for above mentioned tasks from experienced corporate disciplines involved from the mother company
Education, Training
• Education – the incumbent should ideally hold a 3 year post high school qualification (degree or diploma) is relevant field of study.
• Training – advanced training in management would be an advantage
Knowledge and experience:
Having more than 10 years’ experience and knowledge on sales and general management level in the bakery or B2B food industry would be preferred with regards to supply to bakeries and bakery processes.
Core Competences:
The general manager must be team player and have the ability to interact with local stakeholders of all levels, including being able to manage cultural differences and their influences.

Working Conditions:
The incumbent will be based in Lagos Nigeria, at the main office for the company. The incumbent will be required to live full time in Nigeria.
